Canon EOS 70D SLR Camera

This morning Canon announced the launch of the new Canon EOS 70D. Building upon the success of the popular 60D, this new model slots into their mid-range of digital SLRs and is aimed at keen enthusiasts looking to take their photography to the next level. Features that improve on the current 60D include a 20.2 megapixel sensor, a jump up to 7 fps, a broader ISO range from 100-25600, a faster and more accurate 19-point cross-type AF system (same as EOS 7D), a powerful DIGIC 5+ processor and a bright 3.0" vari-angle LCD with touchscreen functionality. The 70D also sports built-in Wi-Fi which is ideal for image sharing and offers remote control of the camera from a smartphone or tablet. The EOS 70D is the first camera to feature Canon's new Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology, enabling fast and smooth AF tracking whilst shooting movies or stills in Live View mode. With this in mind and the increased burst rate of 7 fps, the 70D brings its appeal closer to the wildlife and sports enthusiasts who desire quicker and more precise focusing when capturing fast moving subjects.

20.2-megapixel CMOS sensor and DIGIC 5+
The high performance EOS 70D combines a 20.2-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor and a powerful DIGIC 5+ image processor to deliver 14-bit images that are packed with detail and clarity. Colours are reproduced accurately whilst tonal gradation is subtle and natural.

Dual Pixel CMOS AF
The EOS 70D is the first camera to feature Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology, enabling fast and smooth autofocus tracking whilst shooting movies. Each pixel features two photo diodes that can be read independently during autofocus or together to capture the image.
